#6 check in

This week I interviewed 3 people, and got great results!  (I sent them a copy of the questions and then they answered them)

If all goes to plan, I will have all the interviews done by the end of winter break, and will be ready to start putting together all my information into a presentation!

Have a happy holidays!

#5 check in

Today I have came up with a list of questions that I will ask each person I interview.

  • What is your experience/ level in sports?
  • Whats your favorite thing about being on a team?
  • Who inspires you?
  • What sports do you watch on t.v.?
  • Who is your favorite female athlete?
  • What are your thoughts on women in sports?
  • How are women’s sports stereotyped?
  • How do companies like Nike, Adidas, ESPN, Fox Sports, etc. portray women in sports?
  • What needs to change in our society to make women’s sports seem as great as they are?

If I think of any more questions I will add them throughout the week.

Also, next week I am starting the interview process, and hopefully will get most of them done.

Week One Check In

After a few weeks of going to the football games, we have noticed that there are a significant number of students that show up to support the boys.

We have still yet to attend a girls sport game, but we hope to do that in the next week or so. (Tuesday, October 23, on their senior night!)

We have began to get an idea of who we want to interview, and what questions we are going to ask them.

Stay tuned! 🙂

20% Project Pitch

If you’ve been paying attention to sports or new channels lately, you may have noticed the controversy over Serena Williams actions in the U.S. open. This has sparked our interest, and inspired us to do our project on the importance of women in sports.

We will be addressing our main question, “Why are women being treated differently in sports?”

We will:

  • Show the difference in attendance to a boys football game vs. a girls soccer game
  • Do research on past and current controversies surrounding the topic
  • Explain and describe the future for women’s sports
  • Most importantly, show support for our girls sports teams

We will also be covering other questions like:

  • Why is their pay different?
  • What are the opportunities outside of college?
  • Why does the media dramatize situations involving female athletes?

I have been playing softball for about 6 years, and I fall more and more in love with it every day. I will be attending Shoreline Community College in the fall of 2019, while studying to become a Nurse while I continue to play ball.
